What can Sadiq do to help you?
As the Member of Parliament for Tooting, Sadiq does his best to help every constituent that contacts him. In circumstances where concerns are raised that fall outside the remit of an MP’s role and Sadiq is unable to assist, he will always try to find someone who can.
First of all, due to Parliamentary protocol, Sadiq can only help people who live within his constituency of Tooting. To find out if Sadiq is your MP please click here.
Sadiq can often help if you have a problem with work carried out by central government departments. For example the Home Office, HM Revenue and Customs and Department for Work and Pensions.
Sadiq cannot intervene in private disputes between neighbours, with an employer, with family matters, with companies who have sold you faulty goods and he is unable to interfere with decisions made by the courts.
If you need help in these areas, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) is a good place to start. For more information and to find your local CAB office please visit http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/.
As a Member of Parliament, Sadiq has very little influence over Council services such as street cleaning, rubbish collection, council tax or council housing. This is because the Council is a devolved power which is not answerable to individual MPs. Whilst Sadiq will be more than happy to make representations on your behalf in these matters, there is a limit to what he can achieve.
