Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting, is asking Tooting residents to help him find the best South Asian Restaurant in Tooting as part of Parliament’s annual Tiffin Cup competition.
Sadiq is welcoming suggestions from Tooting residents, and the restaurant that receives the most support will be put forward by the MP as his official nomination to the competition.
Al Mirage, Lahore Karahi and Mirch Masala have all won the nomination in previous years. Who will it be this year? To make sure it’s your favourite restaurant, email your nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday 13th July. All restaurants must be within the Tooting constituency, which covers Tooting, Earlsfield, Wandsworth Common, Furzedown, Tooting Bec and parts of Balham.
The Tiffin Cup is an annual event organised by a cross-party group of Members of Parliament. The Tiffin Club, formed in 2006, celebrates the diversity of South Asian cuisine found in Britain.
Each MP can nominate one South Asian restaurant from their constituency. From these, ten will be short-listed and invited to a special cook-off at Bellamy's Restaurant in Parliament where the overall winner will be chosen.
Sadiq Khan MP said:
“We all know that Tooting is home to the best curry restaurants in the country and I want your help in making sure they get the recognition they deserve.
“Having lived here all my life, I have too many favourite restaurants in Tooting and couldn’t possibly choose just one – so I need your help!
“The Tiffin Cup offers a great opportunity to show off our local talent to the rest of the country and I look forward to receiving your suggestions.”
