Update
As a result
of Sadiq's campaign, run in conjunction with local
residents, the developers altered the plans to better
reflect the feelings of you and your neighbours.
These plans
were recently sent back to the developers because they
failed to meet the technical requirements for a development
of this type and size.
The plans
will be re-submitted soon and then Wandsworth Council will
have to run a public consultation.
This is
normally a minimum of 3 weeks, though Sadiq has written to
the Borough Planner urging him to give the consultation as
much time as possible.
Sadiq
believes a period of at least 6 weeks is reasonable given
the size of the development and the huge number of residents
it will affect.
If you
would like further updates about the development the best
way to stay updated is by email. Please email Sadiq at

Background
Over the summer Sadiq wrote to 11,000 Tooting residents to
tell them about the plans to develop the 80 acre site at
Springfield Hospital.
The Springfield Trusts’ original proposals included 1,400 new
housing units on the site; some of which will be in blocks
that are 5 to 7 storeys high and one which will be 12
storeys.
Earlier this year Sadiq conducted a survey of 3700 households
immediately around the site, outlining the plans and asking
for their views. Only 4.3% of respondents supported the
plans, with an overwhelming majority having severe
reservations about what had been proposed. The height of
buildings, number of units planned and loss of green space
were all particular concerns that were raised.
