Earlier this
year, the Labour Government passed the
Clean
Neighbourhoods and Environment Act
which
provides local authorities with enhanced powers to clean up
our neighbourhoods and tackle anti social behaviour.
The Tories voted against the Bill in
parliament,
and I want to make sure that Tory controlled Wandsworth
Council make full use of the powers available in the Act
when it comes into force next year.
I see for myself on a daily basis how dirty
our streets are. Labour councillors have been working
locally to make Tory Wandsworth Council increase the number
of street sweeps, but these have been voted down by Tory
Councillors.
Local Labour teams have been working with
local residents to force the Council to clear fly-tips and
rubbish immediately.
To help identify where the problems are,
please download and fill in my 'Cleaner Streets' survey, so
together we can lobby the Council to take residents'
concerns about the state of our neighbourhood seriously.
