On 7th May 2015 Sadiq was re-elected with 25,263 votes - the highest number of votes Labour has received since 1997.
Sadiq Khan MP said:
"I would just like to say how delighted I am to have been re-elected as the MP for Tooting. In light of the results across the country, I am even more humbled to have increased my vote and share of the vote.
"I would like to thank you for your incredible support and for placing your confidence in me for a third time. Whether you voted for me or not doesn't matter, I am here to help, whatever your politics. I would also like to send a big thank you to the hundreds of local residents, Labour members, faith groups, trade union members and supporters who helped and brought so much to the campaign.
"I would also like to thank all of the other candidates in this election, who worked so hard and all the volunteers that helped them. I know we all wanted the same thing - to make Tooting an even better place.
"The last few months have shown democracy is alive and well in our area."
