Sadiq lobbies London Mayor to bring Barclays Cycle Hire to Tooting, Earlsfield and Balham

It was recently announced that 60 new docking stations would be built in 2014. These stations would be installed to serve people in Battersea, Putney and Wandsworth Common, forgetting the south of Wansdworth.

Sadiq Khan has now written to the Mayor to ask him to reconsider the decision as soon as possible. He has also sought answers on whether the scheme will definitely be extended throughout the borough and when this will happen.

Sadiq Khan MP said:

“The scheme has been fantastic in encouraging people to get active and tackling congestion. However if the Mayor really wants to change the transport culture in London surely he needs to make the bikes more available across London?.

“The decision not to extend the scheme throughout the Wandsworth Borough by 2012 has left many local residents feeling that Boris Johnson has forgotten about them

“I have written to the Mayor of London to ask him to reconsider the decision so that the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme is brought to Tooting, Earsfield and Balham as soon as possible”
